Cascading water, broken into multiple channels or "cataracts," was a favourite subject for Japanese landscape printmakers of the early 19th century, who treated waterfalls as sites of both natural drama and quiet spiritual power. Series devoted entirely to famous falls became popular during the 1830s, each print seeking to capture a different waterfall's individual character — from thundering plunges to threadlike cascades — through the era's increasingly sophisticated use of colour woodblock printing.

I would buy from this shop again without much thought. I have wanted a good version of The Mountain of Five Cataracts for a long time and this is very close. My only real gripe is the shipping charge on top of the price. It survived a move across town in the original packaging. I would happily buy here again.
I would buy from this shop again without much thought. The balance of light and dark in The Mountain of Five Cataracts came out better than I expected. The detail holds up well from a couple of feet away. My only wish is that they offered a larger size.

I ordered it on a Friday and it was here Monday. I bought this for The Mountain of Five Cataracts and got far more than I paid for. There is no pixelation at all, even with my nose close to it. The driver tucked it inside the storm door, which I appreciated.
