“The War,” also known as “Discord on Horseback,” is a lithograph Henri Rousseau (1844–1910) made in 1894–95 after his oil painting of the same name, showing war personified as a wild figure galloping bare-sword through a landscape strewn with bodies. Rousseau, a self-taught French painter working outside the academic mainstream, exhibited the original at the 1894 Salon des Indépendants, where its raw, direct style drew both mockery and admiration. The print is held in the public-domain collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art.

The condition it arrived in tells me somebody packs these by hand. Only the far edges of The War lose a little crispness.

It arrived four days after I ordered and in perfect shape. The colors in The War came through almost exactly as I hoped. The colors are slightly warmer in person and I like them better that way. Good shop, good product, small quibble on cost.
