The Story in the Margin
During his years in Nuenen in the Netherlands, Vincent van Gogh made a well-known series of drawings and paintings of pollard willows, the stubby, gnarled trees that result from repeated pruning of their upper branches. "Têtards (Pollards)" reflects his fascination with these trees, which he found expressive and almost human in their twisted, weathered forms, rendered in the dark, tonal palette of his early Dutch period before he moved to Paris and adopted a brighter Impressionist-influenced color scheme. The pollard willow studies are considered an important step in the development of his expressive, personal style.
Printed with archival giclée inks on smooth, acid-free 220 gsm gallery-grade fine-art paper; available in multiple sizes.

Everything about this went better than I hoped. It has come through a summer of open windows and humidity without a problem. An easy five stars from me.
It arrived two days after I ordered, which I did not expect. The brushwork in Pollards shows exactly why van Gogh has the reputation. It has been worth every minute of the wait.
The subject alone sold me and the execution sealed it. The detail in Pollards holds up with my face inches away.
Thank you so much, this made our morning. Enjoy it, and send a photo if you ever feel like it.
I wanted something for the hallway that nobody else would have, and this is it. The condition on arrival was flawless, right down to the corners. This is what buying online should feel like.
This has been the easiest online order I have placed in years. The colors in Pollards are richer than any version I found online.
