Martin Waldseemüller's 1507 world map holds a singular place in cartographic history as the first printed map to label the New World "America," a tribute to the explorer Amerigo Vespucci whose voyages had convinced European scholars that a previously unknown continent lay across the Atlantic. Compiled from twelve separate woodblocks and combining the classical geography of Ptolemy with the latest reports from Vespucci's expeditions, it reshaped how Europe pictured the globe. The map vanished from scholarly view for nearly four centuries until its rediscovery in 1901, and today it is recognized as one of the most important documents in the history of geography.

The customer service here answered me on a Sunday. It has made me appreciate Waldseemuller Map more than I already did. Five stars without hesitation. 🙂
My order came a day early, which never happens. The subject of Waldseemuller Map is what sold me, and it delivers. I ordered on a Sunday night and it shipped Monday morning.
This has been the easiest online order I have placed in years. It brings out parts of Waldseemuller Map I have never seen reproduced this well. This old rowhouse has settled every which way, and it still looks right where I put it. I could not be happier with it.
It arrived two days after I ordered, which I did not expect. My daughter recognized Waldseemuller Map from her art class and was thrilled. I already have my eye on a second one.
For the price this lands well above where I expected it to. The listing photos were honest, which is rarer than it should be. It has real weight to it instead of feeling disposable. It does everything I hoped it would.
