The Story in the Margin
J.M.W. Turner made several early tours of England to gather material for topographical engravings, and this view from Binsey Ferry near Oxford, looking across Port Meadow toward Godstow, captures a passing April shower over the Thames-side landscape. Made for the illustrated county histories and travel annuals that were Turner's bread and butter early in his career, it shows his gift for animating an ordinary English river scene with weather and changing light. Even in these commercial topographical works, Turner's interest in atmosphere over pure documentation is already evident.
Printed with archival giclée inks on smooth, acid-free 220 gsm gallery-grade fine-art paper; available in multiple sizes.

The subject alone sold me and the execution sealed it. The finish is even and flawless right to the edges. The condition on arrival was flawless, right down to the corners. It is the best thing in the stairwell now.
I have already recommended this shop to three people. I could not be happier with it.
I wanted something for the entryway that nobody else would have, and this is it. It went straight into the entryway and has not moved since. The tones are deep and even across the entire surface. Ten out of ten from me.

It has completely changed how the hallway feels. The doorman held it for two days and it came through fine.
