Winslow Homer traveled to New Hampshire's White Mountains on assignment for Harper's Weekly beginning in 1868, and this watercolor, painted around that time, records the view near the summit of Mount Washington, the region's highest peak. Rather than treat the mountain as untouched wilderness, Homer depicted the White Mountains as they were experienced by the era's tourists, hikers, and grand hotel guests. The work is held in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.

I wanted something for the entryway that nobody else would have, and this is it. My daughter recognized Mount Washington from her art class and was thrilled.
I kept checking the tracking because I could not wait for it to get here. The smallest marks in Mount Washington are still visible, which is the entire point.
It's holding up fine so far and I have no strong feelings either way. The texture that makes Homer interesting is only half there in Mount Washington. Middling in every direction.
The reproduction quality is the best I have seen anywhere near this price. I have wanted something by Homer since college, and Mount Washington was the one to get. My partner is hard to impress and even he was taken with it. The materials are noticeably better than the last two things I ordered online.
This went well past what I expected. I bought this for Mount Washington and got far more than I paid for.
