George Inness was one of the most influential American landscape painters of the nineteenth century, developing a moody, atmospheric style that moved away from the detailed, panoramic vistas of the Hudson River School toward a more personal, poetic interpretation of nature. "A Marine" reflects his fascination with the shifting light and atmosphere of the American coast, rendered with the soft, hazy brushwork that came to define his mature work. Inness's later career was deeply shaped by his Swedenborgian religious beliefs, which held that the natural world was a visible expression of spiritual truth.
Jacquard-woven as a soft, double-sided tapestry throw with fringed edges — a warm layer for the sofa or bed.

It landed on my porch in perfect condition two days early. Owning A Marine means more to me than generic art ever could, and Inness is part of that. The weave is tight enough to hold every bit of the detail. It washed up beautifully on cold and came out looking new. I have told half my family about this shop.
Thank you so much, this made our morning. Enjoy it, and send a photo if you ever feel like it.
The detail is unbelievable for the price. It is the best forty dollars I have spent on this house. It has made the stairwell feel finished.
I have owned better and I have definitely owned worse. The crop of A Marine works, though I would have liked a little more space around it.
It came packed so well that opening it took ten minutes. Every line in A Marine is crisp, even in the busiest areas. It went straight into the powder room and has not moved since. The high desert dries everything out and this has not cracked or curled. Genuinely delighted with it.
For the price this lands well above where I expected it to. I have wanted a good version of A Marine for a long time and this is very close. It has become one of my favorite things in the house.
